The Corporation for National and Community Service helps more than 5 million Americans improve the lives of their fellow citizens through service. Working with local partners, they tap the ingenuity and can-do spirit of the American people to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing our nation. CNCS is the nation’s largest annual grant maker supporting service and volunteering.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Under the umbrella of CNCS comes the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. You can use the skills and talents you’ve learned over the years, or develop new ones while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within your community. Service opportunities are as diverse as the communities in which volunteers serve.

Waukesha County’s Division of Community Development administers the CDBG and HOME programs from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which are used to provide decent housing, establish and maintain a suitable living environment and expand economic opportunities, particularly for low and moderate-income persons. 

Serve Wisconsin

SERVE WISCONSIN is a 21-member citizen body appointed by the Governor to support community service and volunteerism. Federal AmeriCorps resources from the Corporation for National and Community Service are awarded to organizations seeking to deliver services using an evidence-based approach to solve identified community needs.

Wisconsin Department of Health Serivces

RSVP volunteers provide hundreds of community services, ranging from tutoring at-risk youth to planning community gardens to setting up computerized information systems for community health organizations. Through such efforts, RSVP is meeting needs that strained local budgets cannot afford. All volunteers are placed in volunteer stations under the direction of local public and private nonprofit agencies.

ADRC of Waukesha County

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) is a single access point for publicly funded long term care in Waukesha County. The ADRC provides information, assistance, counseling and supportive services for older adults age 60 and above; caregivers; adults with physical or developmental disabilities; and adults with mental health or substance abuse concerns.
